The Other Baby
Until a few days ago, we've had no issues between cat and baby. However, last week I was leaning over Mack's crib trying to soothe him back to sleep for a nap when Shubert (my beloved gray cat) decided to come wandering into the nursery. The next thing I know, out of the corner of my eye, a gray streak goes flying over my left shoulder and Shubert lands directly on top of Mack's head in the crib. I grabbed the cat and tossed him on the floor and quickly turned back fearful that he had somehow hurt Mack. Mack's eyes were open about as wide as they could be, curious as to what had just happened. He looked me straight in the eye, resumed sucking on his pacifier, closed his eyes and went back to sleep completely unfazed.
Crib incident aside, Mack and Shubert seem to have a good relationship. Mack happily shares his playmat with the cat (as you can see in the picture) and Shubert loves cuddling next to Mack on our bed in the mornings. Unfortunately, I'm not sure Shubert knows what is coming his way in a short time... a crawling baby who will undoubtedly have a strong desire to pull the kitty's tail.
